About Fuel Factor
Fuel Factor follows Hippocrates line of thinking, "let food be thy medicine," creating custom menu plans centered on balanced whole food nutrition and providing personalized lifestyle coaching to help each individual achieve their unique health, fitness, and performance goals in a healthy, science-based, and sustainable manner.
Based in San Diego, Fuel Factor was founded by Kim Mueller, a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics with a master's degree in Exercise Physiogy. Kim has enjoyed providing custom menu planning and nutrition coaching to active individuals worldwide for nearly 20 years. Kim’s passion for customized nutrition also led her to help develop and launch Infinit Nutrition (), a company that specializes in custom-blending functional ingredients to address the performance and health goals of recreational and professional athletes. A well-known author, Kim has contributed work to countless publications, including such books as The New Rules of Marathon and Half Marathon Nutrition, The Performance Zone, and The Woman Triathlete, as well as written her own book, The Athlete’s Guide to Sports Supplements (Human Kinetics, 2013).
Kim is also a RRCA (Road Runner’s Club of America) certified running coach with longtime experience helping runners of all ages and experience train for a wide spectrum of distances in a healthy manner. When she is not coaching others, you’ll find Kim “walking the fitness walk” as an elite masters level runner and proud mother runner paving a healthy lifestyle road for her 2 kids.

Does your nutrition measure up to your goals? Sometimes you're eating too much, too little, or too late. What, when and why you are eating can really help you see faster results.
Our Nutrition Analysis identifies what is working with your diet, and more importantly what is not. In this 75-minute consultation, you will be provided detailed instruction on the proper balance and quantity of food needed to support your metabolic demands and achievement of your unique fitness and health goals. This includes a custom menu plan with the correct balance of carbohydrate, fat, and protein from each food group, one week of personalized menus catered towards your specific health and lifestyle needs, and a detailed grocery list. In addition, you’ll receive calculated guidance on how to support the metabolic demands of exercise training, including recommended “recovery-focused” calories to consume before, during, and after exercise.

I always used to worry about staying lean and fit at racing weight throughout the season, and it wasn’t easy. I read a lot of information about what I should eat in magazines but I didn’t have a systematic approach at all, so while I was staying lean, my performance wasn’t optimal. Kim listened to my needs and my limitations (I work full time and fit running around that) and she gave me a practical plan that gave me results. After working with Kim, my marathon time went from 2’23” to 2’18” over the course of a year - it looks like just a couple of minutes but at this level, a minute is an enormous difference! Kim’s ability to understand my needs and her skill in creating a sample and effective plan was absolutely a big part of that success.
